New Delhi, October 27

The Centre has cancelled Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cards and long-term (LT) visas of persons of Indian origin found involved in anti-India activities.

Without disclosing the number of cancelled OCI cards and LT visas, sources said action had been taken against those indulging in anti-India activities in the guise of supporting the farmers’ protest. Indian Missions in various countries have been keeping an eye on the activities of persons of Indian origin participating in anti-India activities, sources said. In several countries, particularly Canada, Indian students had been participating in anti-India protests, they said.

The government has reportedly identified 12 such persons. The Immigration Department has been advised to send them back to their origin of travel, If they try to travel to India.

In September, India had registered a protest with the Canadian Government over comments made by a few political leaders of that country on the farmers’ agitation, which, it claimed, amounted to “interference in India’s internal matter”.
