As Covid-19 cases continue to rise, most parents want that Classes X and XII exams scheduled by CBSE and CICSE from July 1 be scrapped and the results declared by either calculating average of the tests already conducted or based on internal assessment.

Several parents have launched an online campaign hashtagged “studentlivesmatter”, “livesoverexams” and “cancelboardexams”.

Four of them have filed a petition in the Supreme Court, urging it to cancel the board exams in the wake of Covid-19 spread. “Who will ensure safety of our children? One asymptomatic child or invigilator can infect all kids in that classroom. The viral load of being in the same room for 4 hours is very high,” parents say. — PTI
