While presiding over the first meeting of the high-level committee constituted to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Aurobindo, the Prime Minister proposed to launch the celebrations from Puducherry coinciding with the celebration of National Youth Day. This will encourage youth to visit Puducherry and learn about the life and teachings of Aurobindo who spent 40 years of his life there, Modi said. The PM recalled his discussions with Kireet Joshi, who was a disciple of Aurobindo. Thoughts of Aurobindo were in his mind when he was working on preparing the National Education Policy, Modi said.
