Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the Covid-19 vaccination drive needs to be taken door to door and stressed the importance of completing the inoculation by administering the second dose.

On returning from his visit to Italy and Glasgow, the PM held a review meeting with district magistrates of 48 districts having low vaccination coverage. The districts included 28 from the northeast and Nuh district from Haryana in the region.

Cautioning against any laxity in the drive, PM Modi said a new crisis could come. He called for equal attention to taking the second dose, noting that “whenever the cases of infection start decreasing, the feeling of urgency among people decreases”. On rumours about the vaccination, he said awareness was the only solution and asked the state officials to take help from religious leaders.

The chief ministers of several states also attended the review meet, where the Prime Minister asked health workers to reach every house with the passion of “har ghar tika, ghar ghar tika”. He said officials must change gears from taking people to the vaccination centres to administering vaccines door to door.
