Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a Zen Garden and Kaizen Academy at Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) via video-conference here on Sunday.

He said, “The opening of the garden and academy is a symbol of spontaneity and modernity of relations between India and Japan.”

The Prime Minister especially thanked leaders of Hyogo Prefecture for their contribution in the establishment of the Zen Garden and Kaizen Academy. He also praised the Indo-Japan Friendship Association of Gujarat for giving new energy to bilateral ties.

The PM also highlighted both external and internal meanings of Kaizen, “which not only emphasises improvement, but continuous improvement”.

He recalled that as the Gujarat CM, he had implemented Kaizen in the state administration by introducing it in administrative training in 2004.

“This has led to simplification of the processes and optimisation of office space. Kaizen is being used in many departments, institutions and schemes of the Central Government,” he said.
