Chandigarh: Punjab reported its first confirmed case of bird flu on Tuesday. As per a report by a Bhopal lab, the strain found in a dead bar-headed goose from Rupangar has been found positive for H5N1. This strain primarily infects birds, but can also be transmitted to humans. Inside

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
