Ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s appearance before the Enforcement Directorate in the National Herald money laundering case on Monday, the Congress today alleged political vendetta saying Rahul will answer the summons and has nothing to hide or fear.

He will go to the ED office tomorrow accompanied by several party MPs and general sectaries apart from CWC members.

Many MPs confirmed to The Tribune that they had received phone calls to be present at the AICC headquarters at 9.30 am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Congress press conferences were held today by former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot in Lucknow, Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha in Raipur, former Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam in Shimla, newly elected Rajya Sabha MP Ranjeet Ranjan in Chandigarh, party spokespersons Pawan Khera in Ahmedabad and Alka Lamba in Dehradun to question the case and summons.

The leaders alleged that there was no money laundering in the case and it was a matter of political vendetta and malice.

“But we are not going to be deterred. We have nothing to fear and our leader will go to the ED office tomorrow with his head held high since he has nothing to hide. This case is a BJP’s way of muzzling our voice but we will continue to speak for the people. They have nothing on Rahul Gandhi, who is the only leader that takes on PM Narendra Modi and so they are slapping false cases on him,” Khera said. The summons have been issued in the National Herald money laundering case linked to a 2012 complaint by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy.
