Sengar, a four-term MLA, was expelled by the BJP in August 2019 following furore after his name cropped up in the rape case. The case hit the headlines after the victim attempted self-immolation outside the Chief Minister’s residence in April 2017 and her father died in the police custody two days later. TNS
