Bhagwat landed at Imphal airport, where he was accorded a warm reception by state functionaries of the organisation. His visit forms part of the centenary celebrations of the RSS, a state functionary said.
During his stay, Bhagwat will hold a series of closed-door interactions with RSS members to review the organisation’s functioning in the north-eastern state, he added.
The RSS chief is also scheduled to meet entrepreneurs, tribal leaders from the Manipur hills, prominent citizens and leaders of youth organisations. More than 260 people have been killed and thousands displaced in ethnic violence between Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups since May 2023.
The Centre imposed President’s rule in Manipur after Chief Minister N Biren Singh resigned. The state Assembly, which has a tenure until 2027, has been placed under suspended animation.
