Serum Institute of India (SII) chief Adar Poonawalla today said the company would launch a Covid-19 vaccine for children in the next six months.

Anti-Covid pill 89% effective: Pfizer

Pfizer said on Tuesday that its experimental pill to treat Covid-19 appeared effective against Omicron variant. It said a study confirmed that the pill reduced hospitalisation and deaths by about 89 per cent among high-risk adults. AP

Poonawalla was speaking at an industry conference.

Noting that Covovax Covid shot was under trial and would offer protection to children all the way down to three years, he said, “We have not seen a severe disease in children. Fortunately, the panic is not there. However, we will be launching a vaccine in six months for children, hopefully down to the age of three.”
