Tamil movie ‘Soorarai Pottru’ directed by Sudha Kongara was chosen as the ‘best feature film’ while ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ was named the ‘best popular film providing wholesome entertainment’ at the 68th National Film Awards announced here today.

The ‘best actor’ award for 2020 was shared by Suriya for ‘Soorarai Pottru’ and Ajay Devgn for the Hindi movie ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’. Manoj Muntashir won the award for ‘best lyrics’ in Hindi movie ‘Saina’. Aparrna Balamurali won the ‘best actress’ prize for her role in ‘Soorarai Pottru’.

‘The Saviour: Brig Pritam Singh’, a Punjabi docu-drama based on the life of Brig Pritam Singh, who fought off Pakistani invaders at Baramulla and Poonch in 1947, has been adjudged the ‘best investigative film’. Brigadier (then Colonel) Pritam Singh led the 1 PARA Kumaon regiment and fought against the Pakistan army in the battle of Shelatang on November 7, 1947.
