Even as Covid count’s daily surge continued its record spike rising by 6,767 cases today, the government termed disease management as satisfactory, citing improved infection doubling rate, steadily rising cure rate and reducing mortality rate.

Speaking on a day when Covid burden in the country rose to 1,31,868, with 54,440 recoveries and 3,867 deaths, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said, “Prior to the lockdown on March 25, the case doubling rate was 3.2 days when measured over a period of three days, 3 days when measured over a period of a week and 4.1 days when measured over two weeks. Today, it stands at 13 days. Fatality rate is down to 2.9% while recovery rate has improved to 41.2%.” — TNS
