A large number of primary school teachers from Punjab and Himachal Pradesh on Sunday joined the ongoing dharna by teachers from across the country for redressal of their grievances.

Their counterparts from Rajasthan also joined them in the week-long protest that started last Friday.

The protest is being organised under the aegis of All India Primary Teachers’ Federation (AIPTF).

The teachers are unhappy at the lingering anomalies of the 6th Pay Commission which have hindered implementation of the 7th Pay Commission’s recommendations.

They are also opposed to, among others, some provisions of the Centre’s draft National Education Policy-2019. — TNS
