Three Indian institutes in QS top 200

In a repeat of last year, IIT Bombay; Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru; and IIT, Delhi; have managed to find place in the top 200 in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2021 released today.

All the three institutes have slipped a few notches as compared to the last year.

The IIT, Bombay, is now ranked 172 as against 152 last year; IISc is ranked 185 against 184 last year and IIT, Delhi, is ranked 193 against 182 last year.

Also where 24 Indian institutes had last year made it to the QS overall rankings for 1,000 global institutes, this year the number is 21.

The highest ranked private Indian university in the QS rankings is OP Jindal Global University placed in the bracket 651-700.

Other Indian institutions of higher learning in the QS list include IIT, Madras (rank 275), IIT, Kharagpur (314), IIT, Kanpur (350), IIT, Roorkee (383), IIT, Guwahati (470), Delhi University (501-510) and Jamia Millia Islamia (751-800).

The QS rankings measure institutes on

academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty students ratio, citations per faculty member, international faculty and international student ratio.
