TMC MP nicknames newborn daughter 'corona'

Srirampur (WB): The pandemic might have brought the world to a screeching halt, but that did not stop Trinamool Congress MP Aparupa Poddar from nicknaming her newborn girl ‘Corona’. Her husband Mohammed Shakir Ali said the couple wanted to remind the child and everyone else of the difficult times in which she was born long after the pandemic. PTI

‘Counting’ soap-water dispenser to help wash hands

Kolkata: Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds and the coronavirus will be hosed down the drain. But how do you count those 20 seconds? The answer is you don’t, the dispenser kept by your sink will do it for you. The Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute in West Bengal’s Durgapur has developed a contactless soap-cum-water dispensing unit that will help people wash their hands properly without having to count those seconds in mind or turning their hand to look at a timepiece.
