Rashmi Thackeray, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, is the new editor of Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamna’.

The announcement was made in the Sunday edition of the newspaper by the newspaper’s publisher Rajendra M. Bhagwat and other trustees Subhash R. Desai and Liladhar B. Dake. ‘Saamna’ and its Hindi evening edition ‘Dopahar Ka Saamna’ apart from weekly ‘Marmik’ are published by Prabodhan Prakashan, which has been structured as a trust.

According to ‘Saamna’s staff, Executive Editor Sanjay Raut—also a Rajya Sabha member of the Shiv Sena—will continue to responsible for the day-to-day running of the newspaper.

Uddhav Thackeray took over as the editor of the newspaper following the death of his father and party founder Bal Thackeray. He relinquished the post after he took over as the chief minister of Maharashtra.
