The BJP on June 5 suspended its national spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled its Delhi media head Naveen Kumar Jindal after their controversial remarks against the Prophet. “This is something that we have condemned. We condemn the offensive comments made by two BJP officials, and we were glad to see that the party publicly condemned those comments,” said State Department spokesperson Ned Price in response to a question from a Pakistani journalist. Price said the US had been regularly engaging with the Indian Government at senior levels on human rights concerns, including freedom of religion or belief.
