Harish Rawat’s one-time bête noire Harak Singh Rawat, who quit the Congress in 2016 to join the BJP and rejoined the Congress yesterday, is also not on the first list.

Harish Rawat had in 2014 contested from Dharchaula segment when he assumed charge as Uttarakhand CM. His government fell into minority later when then Congress MLA Harak Rawat and 10 others quit to join the BJP. Harish Rawat had contested from two seats in the 2017 elections — Haridwar Rural and Kichcha — and lost both. Harak was learnt to be eyeing Kedarnath seat, but the Congress fielded sitting MLA Manoj Rawat from there. —
