Organisations can now find out the vaccination status of their employees and hotels can see the inoculation status of their guests as they check in.

The government today said CoWIN had developed a new API to allow institutions to know the vaccination status of employees, associates and customers and to expand safety nets and resume work.

“This consent-based and privacy-preserving API is being offered with a web page that can be embedded in any system or portal,” RS Sharma, chief of CoWIN, said.

The government said to achieve the above there was a need to enable an Aadhaar like authentication service for the status of vaccination through CoWIN.

“The new API called ‘Know Your Customer’s/Client’s Vaccination Status’ or KYC-VS has been developed. To use this, an individual needs to enter the mobile number and name. Thereafter, they will get an OTP which they have to enter. In return, CoWIN will send a response to the verifying entity on the individual’s status of vaccination, which will be as follows – person is not vaccinated; person is partially vaccinated and person is fully vaccinated,” the Health Ministry said.
