Amravati (AP): A distress call from a desperate migrant labourer asking for food for her and 17 others stirred the culinary skills of woman IPS officer B Raja Kumari, Vizianagaram SP, who rustled up lemon rice for them in the night. Kumari said, “A woman requested me to help them get some food. I enquired with my colleagues if some food can be arranged, but they said it was not possible at that hour. So I cooked lemon rice for them.” PTI

Kolkata: Cycling almost 1,200 km with a debilitated person riding pillion could be a daunting task even for professional athletes, leave alone an ordinary teenager. Bihar girl Jyoti Kumari (15) cycled all the way from Gurugram in Haryana to Bihar’s Darbhanga district with her incapacitated father Mohan Paswan seated on the carrier. PTI

Tirupati ‘laddoos’ will soon be available

Tirupati: Despite the lockdown, devotees of Lord Venkateswara of the famous hill shrine at Tirumala will soon be able to receive the sacred “laddoo prasadams” at subsidised prices in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad and all district headquarters in Andhra, a top TTD functionary said. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board Chairman YV Subba Reddy said this followed repeated requests from devotees, who have been barred from darshan of Lord Venkateswara on the hills since March 20 due to the pandemic.
