Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday criticised the erstwhile YSR Congress regime led by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy for ruining the state. He compared its rule as being equivalent to a “natural disaster”.

Shah, who was addressing a gathering during the 20th Raising Day ceremony of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at Vijayawada, said that the previous YSR Congress regime had taken the state back by several years by stalling the Amaravati state capital project, but the present Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, is committed to taking Andhra Pradesh forward.

Shah, during his day-long visit, inaugurated many projects and laid the foundation stones for other projects worth approximately Rs 220 crore.

Naidu, who was present on the occasion along with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, praised Shah for his dedication towards hard work. He said that he was jealous of Shah’s “dedication to work”.

“I am impressed by Shah’s effective tackling of the law and order problems, Naxalites and terrorists. He is working like a machine. He is committed to saving every single life during contingencies. Whenever I meet him, he shares innovative ideas and advises me to do the same,” Naidu said.

“Andhra Pradesh is in for a bright future under NDA rule,” he said, while alleging out that the state was destroyed by the YSR Congress Party’s (YSRCP) misrule. “We (the state) just came off the ventilator. But it still remains a patient. The Centre should continue to hand-hold us till we recover fully,” Naidu appealed.
