On camera, Russian chess champion caught poisoning her rival with deadly mercury
Chandigarh, August 9
In a shocking incident, Amina Abakarova, Russian chess champion, was caught on CCTV allegedly trying to poison her rival.
The 43-year-old was stripped of her title after she was allegedly caught smearing mercury on 30-year-old Umayganat Osmanova’s chess board and pieces.
This caused her to become sleepy and nauseated as soon as the tournament started.
Osmanova was hospitalised.
In a shocking video, the chess player was captured putting something on the chessboard and pieces of her opponent. Abakarova is seen inside a room where chess boards were arranged for the players. She looks around and then stops in front of a particular table. Then she smears something all over the chessboard and the pieces. The video ends with her walking out of the room.
