17-year-old Patiala youth was murdered by friends over iPhone

The 17-year-old missing youth whose body was found from the railway tracks in Rajpura was allegedly killed by two of his friends over an iPhone.

Almost a week after the murder, the Government Railway Police (GRP) have cracked the case. The GRP had registered a case after the body was found from near the Rajpura railway lines on March 26.

The police have arrested a friend of the victim, who, along with another friend, allegedly killed him over his iPhone.

According to the parents of deceased Navjot Singh, their son, along with his friends, left for his birthday celebration on March 25. “He later called us saying he was not going out of station and would return home,” said Harjinder Singh, the victim’s father.

The police found his body on March 26 which had injury marks.

“Harjinder approached us about his missing son and investigation revealed that two of his friends were involved in the crime. We have arrested one of them, who is a juvenile. He told us that the victim’s iPhone was the reason for the crime,” said the police.
