Patiala, January 21

The police recovered 15 grams of heroin and arrested two persons in two separate cases in the district on Monday.

In the first incident, the police arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 10 grams of heroin from his possession in Samana town.

The police said they got a tip-off that the suspect was selling drugs at a village in Samana. The suspect has been identified as Binder Singh, a resident of Muradpura village.

The police said the suspect was said to have been selling drugs for quite a long time. Binder was nabbed while he was waiting for his customers, said a police official.

In another case, the police arrested a Sangrur resident and recovered 5 grams of heroin from him. He was nabbed during a routine checking at a naka near Urban Estate, Phase 3. The police said the suspect, identified as Maninder Singh, had been booked under the NDPS Act.

Couple held with white substance

The police arrested a couple with 20 grams of white substance from their possession on Monday. The police said they laid a naka at the T-point of DLF Colony. The suspects, who were travelling in a car, were asked to stop for a routine checking. On checking, 20 grams of white powder was recovered from their possession. The police said the suspects had been booked and investigations were underway.
