A 22-year- old man was allegedly stabbed by a drug addict outside the court complex.

The incident took place this afternoon when the victim, who has been identified as Jaskaran Singh, a resident of Model Town, was coming out of the court complex.

The accused, identified as Gurpreet Singh, pulled out a knife and stabbed Jaskaran, according the victim's father Rajbir Singh. He said the accused, an alleged addict, was living in the vicinity and knew his son.

Shortly before the stabbing incident, Gurpreet had allegedly demanded Rs 1,000 from Jaskaran, which led to heated argument in the court complex. Once the victim came out of the complex, the suspect allegedly stabbed him and fled from the spot.

The victim was soon rushed to the hospital, where his condition is stated to be serious.

The police have recorded the father’s statement and a case has been registed at the Division No 4 police station. An investigation has been launched to arrest the accused.
