Deputy Commissioner Showkat Ahamad Parray flagged off three vans prepared by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department of Punjab to raise awareness among farmers about the harmful effects of burning paddy stubble and other crop residues.
The van will travel to 934 villages in the district over the next 40 days to educate farmers and the general public.

Showkat mentioned that since the paddy harvesting season was about to begin, awareness camps were being organised in every village for farmers and cultivators.
Chief Agriculture Officer Jaswinder Singh stated that three vans would promote stubble management across all blocks of Patiala, Rajpura, Patiala, Ghanour, Nabha, Bhunerheri, Sanour, Samana, and Patran for 40 days.
