Around 3,000 students studying at engineering department of Punjabi University, Patiala,  went on a strike on Monday over declining placements.

The protesting students refused to appear for their mid-term exams schedule for today.

The miffed students of electrical, mechanical, civil and computer engineering said there was no placement cell in the university. They also complained about the dilapidated condition of the department’s building.

They said washrooms were in a poor shape and there was no provision of potable water. Several protesting students said even elevators were out of operation.
