4 villages elect panchayats

Four village panchayats in the district — Timbarpur, Longo Majri, Behlolpur and Patarsi Kalam — elected their members unanimously. Fatehgarh Sahib MLA honoured the members of the newly elected panchayats.

Timbarpur residents had called a meeting in the village gurdwara to decide about the panchayat elections. Harwinder Kaur was elected as sarpanch, Kulwinder Singh, Rajwinder Kaur, Balbir Kaur, Ajit Singh, Gurdeep Singh as panches. Fatehgarh Sahib Lakhbir Singh Rai said residents of Timbarpur village have created a history by unanimously electing panchayat for the fourth time. He also appealed to other villages to follow the suit.

In Longomajri village, Manpreet Kaur was elected sarpanch while Rani, Khushwinder Singh, Parwinder Kaur, Mandeep Singh, Tarsem Singh were elected panches. In Behlolpur, Sikandar Singh was elected sarpanch while Ranveer Singh, Jai Inder Kaur, Sukhwinder Kaur, Sukhbir Singh, Jagir Singh were elected panches. In Patarsi Amritpal Singh as elected sarpanch, Jagtar Singh, Harpal Singh, Jaswinder Singh and Sharan Kaur as panches. The MLA announced Rs 5 lakh grant for the villages.
