A 45-year-old man was shot dead at a crematorium near Glalori Gate on Friday morning.

The victim has been identified as Navneet Singh who was visiting the crematorium to collect the mortal remains of his uncle.

While he was standing at the crematorium along with other relatives, two assailants appeared and opened fire.

According to eye witnesses, the assailants fired from a close range on Navneet’s head, killing him on the spot.

Later, the accused fled the scene.

Prima facie the killing appears to be a fallout of property dispute, SP Sarfaraz Alam said.

Navneet Singh was an adopted son of his parents.
