The police today claimed to have solved the blind murder of a 70-year-old woman with the arrest of her daughter-in-law.

The police said the suspect, Nirmal Kaur, allegedly killed her mother-in-law, Surjit Kaur, on January 17 by assaulting her with a wooden paddle over a family dispute. The police said the suspect had a scuffle with her mother-in-law before she allegedly attacked and killed her.

The police said that the suspect had concocted a story that she was not at home when her mother-in-law was murdered. She also stole some cash and scattered clothes in the room to create a scene of robbery so as to make believe that the murder was committed for the loot.
