The Women Empowerment Forum of GGDSD College, Kheri Gurna, inaugurated a seven-day workshop for self-defence training of girl students here today.

Dr Ritu Lehal, Professor and Head, University School of Applied Management and Woman Studies Centre, Punjabi University, was the chief guest at the workshop.

She congratulated the management, principal and staff members of the college for a novel initiative to empower girl students. She said it was important for girls to have training in self-defence.

College Principal Sunil Kumar Baria apprised students of the importance of self-defence and motivated them to speak out against any discrimination and abuse.

Chief Coach Patiala Taekwondo Institute gave tips on self-defence to girls. Practical training in self-defence was imparted to the chosen 50 girls by Navjot Kaur, Coach, Taekwondo Institute, Patiala.
