Patiala, August 2
The government has released a total of around 3.96 crore to support 777 beneficiaries in Patiala district under the Ashirwad scheme. This scheme provides financial aid of Rs 51,000 to girls from economically disadvantaged families during their marriage.
Deputy Commissioner Shaukat Ahmed Parray said that Rs 3,96,27,000 has been disbursed in Patiala district under the Ashirwad scheme. Of this, Rs 2,18,79,000 is allocated to Scheduled Castes, benefitting 429 individuals, while Rs 1,77,48000 is earmarked for 348 beneficiaries from Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections. The Ashirwad scheme supports girls from the Christian community, widows across castes, and economically disadvantaged families during marriage, providing them financial assistance of Rs 51,000.
District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer Mukul Bawa confirmed that funds are being transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), with remaining disbursements to follow promptly.
