Of the purchased paddy, 1.85 MT has been lifted and payment to the tune of Rs 712.56 crore has been deposited in bank accounts of farmers.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the farmers to cooperate with the administration in environment conservation by ploughing paddy stubble in fields instead of setting it on fire.

She said just as the farmers had played an important role in making the state self-reliant in foodgrain production, they should also contribute constructively to eradicating pollution by proper stubble management.
