Deputy Commissioner Showkat Ahmad Parray reviewed the strategy prepared to deal with the flood situation in the district. He said, “The District Administration is prepared to tackle any emergency situation like floods in view of the monsoon.”

He directed the officials to pay attention to the places where the water came during the floods last year and to leave no stone unturned in the preparations for flood prevention. Parray held a meeting to review the preparations made by the concerned departments to deal with any emergency situation arising in the district due to the forecast of rain in the catchment areas of the hills, Ghaggar, and other rivers and streams. He said that the district flood control room at 0175-2350550 is operational throughout the day.

The DC also instructed the SDMs to prepare thoroughly at the cluster level by appointing in-charges, coordinating with the respective DSPs, monitoring all arrangements, and visiting the sensitive areas. He emphasised that during the monsoon season, no officer or employee should leave their station, as no loss of life or property of citizens can be allowed due to floods.
