On the call of state unit of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), the party’s district unit organised dharnas in Fatehgarh Sahib and Amloh towns today. While the party workers led by Jagdeep Singh Cheema, halka incharge for Fatehgarh Sahib Assembly constituency, held a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, activists led by Gurpreet Singh Raju Khanna, halka incharge for Amloh constituency, organised a protest in front of the SDM office.

They submitted memorandums to the respective officers for forwarding the same to Governor. They mentioned the difficulties being faced by farmers due to non-procurement of paddy and non-lifting of the purchased paddy, besides non-availability of DAP fertiliser.

Cheema and Khanna said the farmers were sitting in mandis for the last many days and there was an acute shortage of gunny bags.
