All courses of Punjabi University have been approved by the UGC from academic session 2016 onwards. Meanwhile, the university has applied for post-facto approval of a select number of 26 courses run by its Distance Education Department which were not approved for sessions 2013 to 2016.

Sharing information, University officials today said, “All courses run by universities in the country need to be approved by Centre government agencies, including the UGC, the AICTE and others from time to time.”

“Courses taught at Punjabi University are also approved regularly. It was only from 2013 to 2016 session when a select number of courses were not approved due to lapses. We have applied for post-facto approval from the UGC after the matter came into our knowledge. An application has already been sent to the UGC and will be accepted. As such a post-facto approval will be granted for courses run the Distance Education Department,” said Dr Satnam Singh Sandhu, HoD, Distance Education department.
