Bankers would observe a two-day strike on January 31 and February 1 on a call given by the United Forum of Bank Unions.

While protesting outside SBI office on the Mall Road, bankers said they have not received any concrete response yet from the Central Government regarding wage revision.

Rajiv Sirhindi, secretary, AIBOC, said the strike on January 31 and February 1 would be observed by public sector banks and scheduled private banks throughout India.

Bankers have been demanding wage revision, five-day a week, merger of special allowance with basic pay, scrapping of New Pension Scheme (NPS), updation of pensions, improvement in family pension and allocation to staff welfare fund based on operating profits of the banks among others.
