RBL Bank, under its CSR initiative ‘UMEED 1000’, held an event to support girl child education. The bank donated 700 bicycles to underprivileged girl children during the event organised at Polo Ground here.

Punjab Minister of Medical Education and Research Dr Balbir Singh and bank MD and CEO R Subramaniakumar were among those present on the occasion.

The beneficiaries were identified by the bank with the support of the Education and Social Welfare Department, Punjab.

“One of the major reasons behind children dropping out of school is distance. This initiative will provide the much-needed transport facility and increase access to education,” said the minister.

The bank MD said, “In line with our mission of community as the cause, we stand fully committed to help the marginalised communities with our CSR outreach programmes.”
