Officials of the Municipal Corporation have thwarted an attempt to encroach upon a piece of land belonging to a dera near Shahi Samadhan in the city and recovered construction material.

MC officials said Pargat Singh, caretaker at the dera, had lodged a complaint with the Corporation Commissioner, upon which the office sent a team of land and building branches to the site.

Officials said the encroachers fled the scene, after which the municipal officials confiscated the construction material, including bricks, from the site.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
