Bike-borne robbers target forex trader

There appears to be no let-up in the incidents of snatching in the city.

In yet another occurrence, two armed assailants robbed a forex trader of approximately Rs 15 lakh in the Tripuri area last night. Giving details, the victim, Jaspreet Singh (25), recounted that he was heading home on his scooter after closing his office. Near Harinder Nagar on the Sirhind road, two masked assailants riding a motorcycle intercepted Jaspreet and assaulted him with a weapon. Jaspreet lost control of the scooter and fell on the road.

The assailant riding pillion picked the scooter and drove it away. The dickey of the scooter had nearly Rs 15 lakh in it. Jaspreet promptly raised the alarm and informed the police about the incident.

Cops arrived at the spot and scrutinised the CCTV cameras installed in the area to identify the perpetrators.

Tripuri SHO Gurpreet Singh said the police had gathered crucial leads and were actively pursuing the culprits.
