The new SDM office at Fatehgarh Sahib, constructed at a cost of Rs 4.65 crore, is yet to be inaugurated, even though Deputy Commissioner Parneet Shergill has written to the higher authorities to highlight the inconvenience people face due to lack of basic facilities at the present office. The DC said that even during harsh winter, visitors are forced to wait outside the office as there is no space for them inside.

The new complex includes a waiting hall, tehsil office, and facilities such as toilets and drinking water, among others. RN Sharma, president of the Senior Citizens Association, has urged the government to make the new office complex operational for the convenience of the public.
