The Patiala police have registered a case against an inmate at the Patiala Central jail, who was found using a cell phone in jail premises. Jail officials said an inmate identified as Gurdeep Singh of Banur of Mohali was found using a mobile phone in the cell (chakki) number 2 of the jail premises during a checking drive taken out by the jail officials on Tuesday.

Accused booked under prisons act

  • Jail officials recovered a touch-screen phone, along with a SIM and a charging lead from him. The Tripuri police have registered a case against the accused under Section 52A of the Prisons Act.
