Several outsourced and contractual employees from various government departments today held a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office under the banner of the Theka Mulazim Sangharsh Morcha to demand the regularisation of their services. The agitators raised slogans against the state government.

Morcha leaders Gurwinder Singh Panjoli and Kuldeep Singh complained that even though they had been holding protests to press for the regularisation of their services for a while, the government had failed to address or fulfill their demand.

The leaders also claimed that the Centre and state governments have been trying to privatise all departments. The protesters expected concern about the possibility of such a move leading to a surge in the unemployment rate. — OC
