A day after vaccinating over 10,000 people, the district Health Department ran short of the Covid-19 vaccine today. Consequently, the vaccination will be carried out only at two spots in the district tomorrow.

the community health centre, Model Town, and Jai Public School in Factory area of the city.

Owing to the shortage, even priorities groups, international students and foreign travelers, will not be vaccinated tomorrow.

Health officials said they could vaccinate only 421 beneficiaries today, reportedly due to the shortage of the vaccine.

Sources said the Health Department was left with only a few hundred doses. It is learnt that fresh stock might not arrive before July 21. “There is no fresh supply from the headquarters. As soon as we get the supply, we will resume the vaccination drive,” said a senior health official.

Health officials are planning to hold another mega vaccination drive on July 22 soon after the arrival of a fresh supply of vaccines.


Patiala records 6 cases, one death

Patiala district recorded six fresh cases of Covid-19 on Saturday. Civil Surgeon Prince Sodhi said four cases were reported from the city while a case each surfaced in the Nabha and Kauli blocks. He said the district reported one Covid death in the past 24 hours.
