Dental camp oragnised to celebrate World No-Tobacco Day in Patiala

On the occasion of World No-Tobacco Day, Luxmi Bai Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital organised a free dental check-up camp for the factory workers of Focal Point, Patiala. The camp aimed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco on oral and general health.

The team was headed by Dr Pranjan Mitra and Dr Avneet Kaur under the guidance of Principal Dr Aushtosh Nirola along with PG students and interns.

The theme for this year’s celebration, “Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on Tobacco and Nicotine Products” was prominently highlighted at the event.

Educational sessions were conducted to inform workers about deceptive marketing practices of the tobacco industry and to encourage tobacco cessation. “Workers received oral health screenings, counseling, and preventive guidance”, said Dr Nirola.

“There is a need for urgent action against tobacco’s devastating and far-reaching effects from cancer, respiratory, and cardiovascular disease to infertility and second-hand smoke exposure”, he further stated.
