The doctor identified as Rohit Garg, a resident of Ghagga town here, was on his way to Patiala to attend a blood donation camp when his car was hit by the oncoming speeding PRTC bus around 7.45 am.

The car was completely damaged in the accident. The doctor died on the spot while the bus driver fled from the spot leaving the bus behind. Some bus passengers also received minor injuries in the accident. After some time, a truck also rammed into the PRTC bus.

The police said the deceased had completed his MBBS from Government Medical College (GMC), Patiala. Garg, as informed by his classmates, was a meritorious student and had secured a good rank in NEET-PG examination, the results of which were declared last week. Investigating officer Angrez Singh said they had registered a case against the bus driver under relevant sections of the IPC. He said, “We are conducting raids to nab the bus driver.”
