Patiala, March 25

The Health Department today clarified that ‘Not everyone requires mask’, amid panic among residents in the wake of coronavirus (Covid-19).

The department has made an appeal that everyone does not need masks to tackle Covid-19). The appeal has been made at a time when the district is facing severe shortage of face masks. The department said there was no need to purchase masks by Covid-19 free people.

“Mask is required only if someone has come in contact with a Covid-19 positive patient or is a symptomatic,” said the Health Department.

The department said people who have cough, fever or respiratory disease should wear mask.

Patiala Civil Surgeon Harish Malhotra said, “If you have not been in contact with an infected person or you are not in contact with Covid-19 carrier, then there is no need to wear a mask. People should follow hygiene guidelines issued by the Health Department. There is no need to panic.”
