Dr Surjit Singh Dhillon, former professor and head, Department of Zoology, Punjabi University, passed away today. Born in Barnala in May 1932, Dr Dhillon taught at Aligarh Muslim University before joining Punjabi University. He remained the head of the Department of Zoology for over 18 years and also served as Dean, Academics; Dean, Science Faculty; Dean Colleges and provost.

Officials and writers at the university said he continued writing till his last days and also wrote about his visit to the South Pole among other works. — TNS
