Several farmer leaders paid homage to deceased farmer Shubhkaran Singh and laid flags of their respective unions on his body here on Thursday.

As the body was taken from Rajindra Hospital to the Khanauri border, it was wrapped in the flags of farmer unions.

The farmers also marched along the ambulance and raised slogans of ‘Amar Shaheed Shubhkaran Singh, Zindabad’.

The farmers demanded that the culprits behind his death be nabbed soon.

The deadlock between the farmers and the police ended on Wednesday night with the registration of a murder case against unidentified persons for Shubhkaran’s death at the Khanauri border on February 21.

The post-mortem was conducted here on Wednesday night. The cremation will be held at his native village in Bathinda on Thursday afternoon.
