Addressing the gathering, the farm leaders alleged that during the farmers’ protests the son of an ex-Union minister had brutally crushed eight people, including a journalist and four farmers, to death under his vehicle in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh and the BJP government was not doing justice to the victims.

They said this showed that the Modi-led BJP government was an ‘anti-farmer’, ‘anti-poor’ and ‘anti-labour’ government which was constantly looting the common people of the country. They also demanded a legal guarantee on the MSP, among other demands. They threatened to intensify their protest if their demands were not met.
